Holland Park
Introducing Holland Park
Holland Park itself is one of London’s best, with wild woodland, a Japanese garden, sports pitches, and the remains of Holland House. On Kensington High Street to the south, a treasure of British modernism is currently being transformed into a new home for the Design Museum. It all makes for a very plum position, with the shopping and fine dining options of Kensington and Notting Hill a short walk away.

Edina's, from Absolutely Fabulous, home
Jennifer Saunders' permanently muddled PR maven lives in Holland Park and not, as she is constantly reminding people, in far less salubrious Shepherd’s Bush.
Picnics and Opera
The Opera Holland Park season, which runs from June to September, has now firmly established itself as one of the capital's cultural providers. Make sure to bring an outer layer of cashmere though.
The park boasts almost-wild woodland, formal gardens, a Japanese garden, sports pitches, an orangery and the bomb-damaged remains of Jacobean mansion, Holland House (which does look in surprisingly good shape, all considered).
