Bloomsbury

Introducing Bloomsbury

A district of Georgian garden squares ringed by elegant townhouses, Bloomsbury has a smart, cerebral air – there aren’t many other places where you can pop in to see the Rosetta Stone at the British Museum after a spot of breakfast. Close at hand are the independent restaurants and shops of Marchmont Street, where you can browse second-hand bookshops before heading for lunch in one of its organic cafés.

      The Bloomsbury Set

An influential group of intellectuals including Virginia Woolf, John Maynard Keynes and EM Forster - so-called because many of them lived and played in the area in the early 1900s.

As pens are downed and the libraries close, Bloomsbury’s nonchalantly charming pubs fill up, with the chatter of theorems, one of which might just change your life.
