Battersea

Introducing Battersea

A district of leafy streets lined with family homes, Battersea is abuzz with young professionals. Whether milling around Northcote Road Market or swinging by the Arts Centre for the latest modern dance performance, life here ticks along at an upbeat pace. Battersea Park offers a spot of greenery, as well as a zoo, a skate rink and a couple of herons for good measure.

      Best known for

      Battersea dogs and cats home

Established in 1860 and championed by Charles Dickens, this is one of London’s most respected and upheld establishments. Whilst once a humble shelter for lost and starving animals, the home’s furry friends are now something of a celebrity. They often star in BBC documentaries and one lucky puss, Larry, has recently taken up the post as resident pet of Number 10, Downing Street.

      Battersea Power Station

An iconic landmark this listed building has lain dormant for the last three decades. Over the next few years, redevelopments will transform the station into new homes, offices and shops, though the famous four chimney design will remain.

Less cashmere swaddled than their Chelsea compatriots, these days Battersea is abuzz with young professionals.
